The Devilution of Western Civilization
In my encounters with anti-Christians, and particularly with mis-styled atheists, I have often found that the general idea about people of the past is that their "rustic" ideas about the origin and operation of the universe can be excused because they were a lot dumber than we are today.
Is that really true? Are we somehow fundamentally smarter in terms of actual I.Q. brain power than the thinkers of the past? Because I've actually noticed the very opposite trend among the western nations; that we are, in fact, employing a good deal less brain power than our immediate ancestors did in their youth. Look around you Americans, Canadians, and you too Brits, and face the hard facts: we have become a society of well-entertained, catatonic droolers. We believe that we are smarter than our ancestors for the very same reason we believe every folly transmitted by the wires: only because we have been unceasingly told to, so that no other idea is ever able to germinate.
It is true that we have great computers and I-pads and space stations and our ancestors did not. But these things really only reflect advancement in collective knowledge, and not at all individual brain power. Can you sit down and build an I-pad from scratch? No one person can. We have only advanced our technology by becoming specialists of a far finer degree than have any people who existed before us. That doesn't make any of us smarter. All we've really done is narrowed our vision.
Pick out any random person in western society today and give him or her their complete earthly independence. Strip them down to nothing but themselves alone in the wild. What will they produce, I wonder? Not a space station, I should think. In fact, the great majority of them will not survive the week.
I would present the same challenge to a group of one thousand people willing to work together in harmony. Remove them from every trace of civilization and allow them ten years to begin again. At the end of that time, those that still survive will have an appearance no better than our imagination of cave men. Give them a thousand years and they'll be fashioning crude iron instruments, even though their ancestors passed down stories of programming computers.
Examine your abilities honestly, and you must know it is truth. I am a wilderness survival enthusiast and one that loves learning how to build, fix, and engineer things, and yet I know that I could recreate our civilization no faster than a culture of mold hidden in the back of the fridge. It takes time, cooperation, and the transference of acquired knowledge to produce technology. None of these factors have a wit to do with superior intelligence, so what can be a person's argument for the alleged growth of human reason?
As a matter of fact, compared to you and me, Plato, Aristotle, Pythagoras, and any contemporary of theirs that was able to understand them, was a super-genius and a giant of wisdom. Yet they were all pagans who believed that the earth was a static fundament in the center of the universe and that man got his reasoning skills from Prometheus.
{Compare this to Biblical books of the Old Testament, written long before these thinkers. From the book of Job, thought by many scholars to be the oldest book of the Bible - written prior to Moses - we learn that the Israelites knew that the earth was not the foundation of all creation: Job 26:7 says, "He [God] stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing." And from the writings of Isaiah (the 8th Century BC much prior to Pythagoras, Aristotle, and Eratosthenes), we learn that the Israelites knew the earth was a sphere: Isaiah 40:22 says, "It is He [God again] that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers..." Yet those who saw and heard and touched Jesus Christ are either accused of being too dumb to know they were being fooled, or else accused of being brilliant villains who master-minded a social system of control over the regular, poor, dumb people. Yet I asseverate that if there was ever a time at which a group of people were capable of engineering a perfectly-interlocking Bible, utilizing books provably far more ancient than they, and managed to do so without making a single statement which can be contradicted by historical records or archaeology today, then there was a time in history at which people were decidedly smarter than our contemporaries. If that is the case, how then can we say that the entire world population of people before us was too dumb and backward to see the truth?
What has changed since the "Biblical days"? Our culture has changed, and that because our environment has changed, and that because our technology has changed. But people are still physically and mentally being born the same as those a thousand years ago; and they would grow the same, if modern cultural behavior did not enter the picture. But because it does, because our technology allows it and our pop culture esteems it, we make bad health choices - such as consuming neurotoxins, constantly exposing ourselves to EMF fields, and sitting around all day listening to the drone of televised voices - and we then begin to experience physiological changes in our brains that are quite the opposite of what we're being told is happening, which is evolution. Rather, we're seeing devolution (or devilution) and we're doing it to ourselves.
Here's the kick in the pants. It's happening because of pride. We're so darn proud that we [supposedly] sent astronauts to the moon and sexually "liberated" [read: enslaved] ourselves that we believe we've reached the epitome of humanity. They tell us how great we are and "how far we've come", and because of pride we drink up what we want to hear about ourselves.
It is no accident of circumstances. The dumbing-down effect is happening to the post-industrial world because we have given ourselves over to the enticements that advanced technology affords, and created a culture of ignorance and sloth. (Notice that I never used the word ignorant in reference to past generations. To be truly ignorant is to willfully ignore what is right in front of you. That is what this society is culpable of.) We're too lazy to educate ourselves, much less our own children, so we make the entire society help pay someone else to educate them. Have you ever examined just what those educators believe? I graduated only a little more than ten years ago, and even I find myself appalled at what is now being taught and what neglected. These are no longer schools, they're programming centers, where sweet innocent children enter and devilish, God-hating, sexually liberated robots, good only for parroting the talking heads exit. You were told they were being taught to think with an open mind, but the truth is that they're being conditioned to think a particular way: Satan's way.
If you don't believe there is a social-engineering agenda behind the educational system, go find out about Norman Dodd and the Reece Commission. Listen to some interviews with Charlotte Iserbyt. You can find them on youtube. In fact, here's an old interview with a former KGB agent who talks about the Soviet's plan to infiltrate the education system: http://youtu.be/uyJtY-fciBE
This is what has been done, and no matter which elite group of world leaders and financial backers you point the finger at, almost all of them tend to share one thing in common: They're obsessed with the occult! [Read: Satan.]
The people at the controls of our civilization are occultists. If you don't believe that, check out the Cremation of Care ceremony at the Bohemian Grove. [http://youtu.be/F2E_HP97Rzc] Look at your dollar bill for that matter. (If you look in the upper right-hand corner of the back side, you will see that "the owl is not caught in the spider's web", regardless of which version of the one-dollar bill it is. [http://youtu.be/9Whb-_5rHkk]) Don't be so oblivious to signs they've put all around you.
I could only wish that I had time and space to give a full dissertation on the Theosophical Society, Lucis Trust, the Freemasons, and their sundry connections to such respected institutions as the United Nations.
But for now, again I say, the people at the controls of our civilization (political, economical, educational, and theatrical [http://youtu.be/9Whb-_5rHkk]) are by and large occultists. That being the case, it is safe to say that we have been absorbing their ideas, attitudes, and beliefs incrementally for as long as we have allowed ourselves to be under their hypnotic sway. How then can we look in the mirror and say, "intelligent and wise free-thinker", and look in the history books (which largely have also been hijacked) and say of our ancestors, "rustic fools"?
It is my position that we have not gotten smarter by any measure, only more obtuse and obstinately ignorant. Therefore, if we can admit to ourselves that we really don't know whether the earth is several billion years old, and that there might be even the smallest chance that a Creator God is real, we should find ample space for the humility it takes to honestly examine this awesome claim made by the writers of the Bible.
If we ever do come to the emotional and spiritual place where we are able to accept that we've lied to ourselves by allowing others to lie to us; accept that those men we wrongly put our faith in have not really answered any of the important questions; and accept that we do not really know what is going on in the world, but are like children in our understanding, then we can begin doing this. Asking honest questions and seeking answers with an open heart is precisely what children do.
Did you know that Jesus said of children, "Let the children come to me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven." [Matthew 19:14]
What does that mean? That you don't get into Heaven unless you're unenlightened by knowledge? Not at all. But seek humbly, as a child, knowing that there is One greater than you, and you will have a child's faith - which is exceedingly great. This is saving faith if so be that it is correctly placed in Jesus Christ alone.
Peter and James wrote in their epistles that God "resists the proud; but gives grace to the humble."
Solomon wrote in his proverbs that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom and understanding.
The two ideas are inseparable, and you know... here in the west, most of us are probably able to say that we had a whole lot of predecessors that believed those two ideas held a lot of value. Is our modern intellect really so great that we can afford to abandon them? Perhaps when we are able to create our own universe we'll be ready. [Please roll your eyes with me. Thank you.] Until then, if man will not respect his Maker, their big heads must continue to be deflated by calamity.
